Gen 4:9
And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
KJV
The question that has rang out since the beginning of time deals with our commitment to our brother. In the New Testament a man trying to justify himself to God asked Jesus, who is my neighbor? Lk 10:29 Greater love has no man than this, than a man lay his life down for his friends. Jn 15:13 This leads us also to ask, “who is my friend?”
The fact is that God gave himself for the world while we were yet sinners and that is exactly what we do for the world as Christians. We give of our lives to be the light of world.
It is through the giving of people that World Harvest has been able to reach out to needy and forgotten areas of the world in order to evangelize and to establish the church. Your special gift is what helps us respond to both God and world as we say, “Yes, we are our brother’s keeper.”
